Hello Everybody! As you all know I live in Liverpool, I have done for nearly 21 years so when the Travelodge got in touch asking me to write about one place in Liverpool which is my secret gem I was so excited as although I have lived here so long I still have that one place I love that will be my secret place. I think if your a tourist coming to Liverpool you instantly want the Beatles Museum, Our historic world museum's, The Duck Bus, The Albert Dock the list goes on now these are all amazing and will make you love Liverpool and mine is on this list but not so obvious!

The Albert Dock to me has been something I have loved since I was a child, it's beautiful and the boats dotted along the sides of the water amazed me, people actually lived in them!? The rows of typical tourist shops mixed with top restaurants, an art gallery, a museum it was a world away from Liverpool in a weird way and as I have grown up and gotten the chance to explore the Albert Dock myself I have found new places. The Mermaid House, The more modern sides of the Albert Dock with our new museum, Echo Arena, The Big Wheel but no place on the Albert Dock will ever steal my heart as much as one. It is in plain sight you will 100% have seen my most favorite place which is that long walkway just behind the art gallery and those typical tourist shops. A long walkway filled with metal benches, cobbled walkways, boulders with linked chains filled with love locks I could sit and read all day and a view of the River Mersey, This all might sound very strange, Liv it's only a walkway? No. Go at night. Most people go the Albert Dock in the day but go in the dark, with only the lights of the stars and boats and it's another world.

I have been here for so many different reasons in the past, arguments with a partner and this was my space to be alone, a romantic alone place with a partner, somewhere to go when I have been upset....I visited a lot when my mum had skin cancer. Somewhere to go with a friend at 2am to no longer be sober (This ended brilliant by the way!) I honestly find this place my safe haven, you won't find anyone but the odd late night runner or a couple walking along here it's just you, the sky and quiet. At night is turns romantic or just a place to be alone and have a good long think. All you hear is the sound of the water, the birds flying back to their nests, Boats docking for the night. I have sat on these benches in tears, in hysterics laughing, in love they have seen more of me than most people. I can't even explain how beautiful it is at night. I hadn't actually been for a while as I had been so wrapped up in work and personal upset so I loved that this post gave me a reason to go back. As much as I  love people and meeting new people sometimes I love being alone even if I am sat in the cold at 9pm it's a place that I actually find peace and there is no one their to say I am wrong or right. Forget the Albert Dock of a day because of a night it's a whole new place.

Have you ever visited the Albert Dock at night?
